Foothill-solar

Photos of the existing solar array parking structures (100kW) at Foothill College, and our analysis/proposal for a larger (3.2MW) structure, done for the final project of our Advanced GIS (Geographic Information Systems) class.

Ironically, we had chosen the left side of the lot quite arbitrarily for a representative 1MW subset of panels (highlighted in green in the image), based on the fact that they were the longest in the lot, and (presumedly) you could get the most power with the fewest number of shade structures to build.

See the "Solar Analysis" sub-gallery for an explanation of why this turned out to be quite surprisingly wrong...

This is a snapshot of a 3D model of the two 50KWh Solar-Parking structures that already exist at Foothill.

You can download the model, or view it in Google Earth, here.
