For all intents and purposes, I think we could treat it as a
triangle, since the ends would be locked into the hubs. There might
be a 1-2cm gap between strut ends, but that's filled by the metal or
composite material in the hub, so I don't think it would be an issue.
Even our wiggly-wobbly greenhouse joints became nearly
rock-solid once we bolted the bottom perimeter to the deck. Suddenly,
everything just stiffened up, and it's been solid for about a year,
now.
