Pat's Wish-List & Gift-Giving Ideas

Here are a few things that I've been thinking about getting. If you're thinking of getting me a present, but are not sure what sort of things I'd like, this is a great place to start. :-)

Many of these are things I haven't gotten arrount to buying for myself, yet. Sometimes just due to time, often because of cost. If you want to contribute funds towards part of one of these and earmark funds for that purpose, that's perfectly fine with me. (I like to think of money as "the universal gift certificate." :-) )

Books

Syd Mead

• Kronolog, by Syd Mead $500 + S&H
  This one is also extreme, but I've totally fallen in love with Syd Mead's work. Kronolog is a set of 2 books and 3 LaserDiscs, containing all sorts of goodies.

Buckminster Fuller

Membership in the Buckminster Fuller Institute $30 and up.
I can't believe I don't actually have this already! And they've got a challenge grant for their "Spaceship Earth Online" special project, so each dollar is actually worth 2 to them. As another point of cost-effectiveness, a membership with them would give me 10% off all purchases, so a $30 or more membership would save me $72 and $12, respectively on the below video sets.

  One of the latest books about Bucky, with many never-before seen photos. I got to see a copy of this in Fall, 2001. It's amazing!

Videos

• Everything I Know (Video Set) $720 + S&H

  42 hours of Bucky doing a massive brain-dump. On video! If you know me, you won't even need to ask why I want this. :-) (Yes, it's very expensive, but down from $1000 when they first offered it a few years ago, and yes I've wanted it since I first heard about it.)
  There is an audio-tape version of the same 42 hour presentation, but this one also has the video component of him presenting, drawing, using models, etc. While in college in Buffalo, my friend John Atkins and I used to Inter-Library-Loan the tapes from Oswego State University to listen to them. Very cool stuff. I'm really curious to see the whole thing. (I had no idea until about 1997-8 that they had even made a video of the event!)
• Only Integrity Is Going to Count (3 video set) $120 + S&H

  Another chunk (5 hours) of Bucky, just before he passed away in 1983. This one looks very good.
